Renowned artist Yayoi Kusama has passed away. She held her paintbrushes until right before she passed away. She experienced hallucinations during her childhood. Kusama received the Praemium Imperiale award for her contributions in art. Her work was widely celebrated. One creation, the Red Pumpkin artwork, grew into an icon of Naoshima island. She kept working until she passed away. She made art inspired by her early childhood experiences and her signature polka dots.
