On Saturday 27 June 2026 a ceremony was held in Halifax. The Canadian Army went into suspension its 5th Division as twilight fell over the base parade ground. Senior officers, veterans and staff gathered together. Colours were lowered. A plaque was presented to honor the unit’s legacy. A last bugle call rang as the ceremony ended.
Officials confirmed the change is part of a re‑organisation of Canada’s land forces. Following decades of duty the 5th Division will be dissolved as a separate formation.
